Reinventing a Classic: The White Shirt

As fashion creatives we’re always on the hunt for new ways to recreate trends, so we took upon the challenge to reinvent an absolute classic: The White Shirt.

Inspired by will.i.am’s fresh take on Otis Redding’s iconic hit ‘(Sittin’ On) The Dock of the Bay’ for a collaboration with NESCAFÉ Dolce Gusto, we decided to put our creativity to the test to reinvent a classic – challenge accepted!

So we thought, what’s more of a fashion staple than the classic white shirt? Such a timeless piece in your wardrobe right? But how many times have you dared to explore wearing it any other way than it was made to wear?

From the layered look to the strapless shirt, check out our three looks to inspire you for next time you feel like freshening up that staple piece.

Tip: Borrow your boyfriend/dad/brother’s white dress shirt for that oversized feel.

Love always, Nami and Pascale x

To celebrate will.i.am’s collaboration, we’re giving away a NESCAFÉ Dolce Gusto machine to get those creative juices following! To be in the draw to win, share with us below your top tip on reinventing a fashion look.

My tip would be to not be afraid to alter your clothes. Jeans can become shorts, a long skirt can be shortened. Beautiful fabric can be made into a scarf, a dress can become a skirt. If you’re no longer loving a piece of clothing, you have nothing to lose.

Cant go past a good belt to reinvent a fashion look! Well done on opening our eyes to what can be done with the classic white shirt. <3

Wow that is really creative! My tip would be to embellish – reinvent the classics by adding some personal touches like brooches, feathers, sequins, buttons, belts, add cuffs, alter the length etc. Have fun with it then be CONFIDENT 🙂

Classic high heels!! High heels can be never be out of fashion. And if to find the perfect pair of high heels it can do the magic.

A scarf always reinvents any “classic fashion look” outfit I think. I have a few scarfs for different outfits and occasions to mix and match – light ones for summer and thicker ones for winter.

Who would have thought! Cool cool classic

Innovative! Pairing a classic 50s knot head band is a great go to for upstyling a classic look.

The easiest way for me is to take an item and wear it the opposite of how it’s made to be worn. E.g casual up a very dressy dress with flats and a denim jacket. or make jeans super sleek with a dress shirt and heels. Does that make sense? It makes it super easy to take a look from day to night, and keeps you out of our (and the items) comfort zone

Greetings from Ohio! I’m bored to tears at work so I decided to check out your website on my iphone during lunch break. I enjoy the information you provide here and can’t wait to take a look when I get home. I’m amazed at how quick your blog loaded on my mobile .. I’m not even using WIFI, just 3G .. Anyhow, wonderful site!
