Blogger, photographer, model on her CV she is one super creative babe that we can’t wait to see what she does in the future. Scroll our chat with her below to see what she’s up to…
How old are you?
18 as of this year!
What do you do for work?
I am the content curator of the blog sonderingg.com, a photographer and a model with Unique Model Management. I also work at Glassons and do a conjoint degree at AUT studying business and communications.
Tell us a bit about your blog? What is your inspiration behind it?
I fell in love with the term ‘sonder’ which is the name of my blog. It is defined as “the realization that each random passerby is living a life as vivid and complex as your own”. We live in a world where each one of us is so inconceivably caught up in ourselves that we seem to fail to consider the complexities within the life of a stranger. We seem to be restrained to our own minds, our own dramas and beliefs so much so everyone else’s experiences are simply irrelevant. Thats why I picked the name sonder/sondering, as I wanted my blog to be a platform which gives one the option to gather insight into the life of a stranger or another individual.
My blog is largely a platform for me to post my photography as well as collaborations and features on brands or cool individuals. I would love to write more but it is something I would want to take the time to do well and at the moment between uni, work and fashion work, I don’t believe I would be satisfied with the quality. But having the opportunity to give a stranger a connection to another stranger through photos or writing is something I find incredibly special and is one of the main inspirations behind my blog.
How would your friends describe you to someone who doesn’t know you?
Curiosity actually lead me to asking a couple of pals what they would say, and the recurring suggestions were confident, charismatic, approachable, talented, motivated and kind hearted (this warmed my soul).
What is your next splurge purchase and why?
The Lovers and Drifters Club ‘sex, breakfast of champions tee’, because I just think it’s insanely funky and the brand is one of my all time favourites. So much romance, you have to dig it.
Who/what influences you in your everyday life?
Everyone and everything (in so many words). It is so easy to get caught up in one person or one form of inspiration that it leads you to ignore everything else and miss out on numerous opportunities. I believe it is so valuable to keep your eyes and mind open. I find this mindset described in this quote has a large influence on the way I live – “three simple rules in life. 1. If you do not go for what you want, you’ll never have it. 2. If you do not ask, the answer will always be no. 3. If you do not step forward, you will always be in the same place.”. Living like that and trying to make sure people in my life feel valued motivates me day to day.
What is one of your guilty pleasures?
Food. No surprises there. I’ve gotten into the habit of eating a bag of chips every day – just in time for fashion week castings!
How would you describe your style?
A bit of everything? I always try new things and keep changing it up. I get so easily bored so it’s important for me to branch out. Somedays my style is very trend driven, sometimes its very relaxed and others it’s rather bold. One of my friends described my style as “eclectic, quite casual but you love to use statement pieces”.
What are your 3 tips to taking a great photo?
1. Make sure you appreciate what you’re capturing
2. Always utilise the light
3. VSCO cam is your friend
