Meet Danielle, the girl behind the luxury vintage designer business Hawkeye Vintage. Her and her team source incredible, one-off vintage designer pieces and accessories from all around the world and call it a job. Let us tell you, she is the right woman for it.
Danielle turned her personal shopping experience into a business concept that allows her to source Chanel, Fendi, Gucci, Dior on a daily basis and make it available to girls like me and you.
We had to introduce this hardworking Kiwi gal and mother of 2 to you because not only is she is an inspiration for girls turning their side hustle into their passion, she will also soon be bringing her luxury goods to you via our website – shopserendipityave.com. That’s right, with our monthly bag edit we will be making brands like Chanel available to you in New Zealand. So for the moment hold tight and read more about Danielle and how she started.
How old are you? 31!
How did Hawkeye Vintage start? It started from passion and addiction of buying vintage and luxury all around the world on my travels then storing them in a storage which grew and grew to the point I needed to make a business out of this so I can continue my passion of buying.
Are your bags authentic? How do you make sure of this? Yes, We have everything go through an authenticity process prior to buying the items so that we ensure the authenticity and then an in-house check. We deal with licensed dealers overseas also and with our knowledge of being in the industry so many years we really have a Hawkeye 😉
Where do you find all the goodness? all over the world! Paris and Japan are my favourite places to source, We do have many other avenues we have built up over the years and now have fine-tuned our sourcing spots! Is it your full-time job? Yes, full time alongside being a mum of 2!
Where do you see Hawkeye being in 5 years? We see Hawkeye in 5 years growing across AUS and NZ, possibly a bigger HQ office/shop with forever expanding ideas and plans our minds are always ticking with new ideas.
Fav quote to live by? Buy less. Choose well. Make it last. Quality, not quantity. Everybody’s buying far too many clothes. – Vivienne Westwood , I like this quote because we support sustainability. We try to educate people on buying old over new mass produced!
Women, that inspire you? Sophia Amourusso – Girl Boss, Love her story and how she started out, the failures and how she has got right back up again!
You are originally a Kiwi gal, what do you miss the most about NZ living abroad in Melbourne? Family friends and food! the 3 F’s!
You are a mother of two, what are some tips for other mums wanting to start their own business? ROUTINE!!!!! Get the kids in a routine so you can manage to work from home and at set times of the day (their sleep time) get an assistant or nanny so you are able to free some time up to still be yourself and reach your goals.Have you had some failures in your business and how did you overcome them? Opening a shop and not selling enough to cover the rent would be one to remember and learned from which is why I came up with the pop-up store concept for our business!
Keep your eyes peeled for exclusive Hawkeye Vintage goodness over on our Shop shortly. Just saying, we may or may not be welcoming the very first Vintage Chanel bags in New Zealand #NoBigDeal
