Even when your glow is faux, “don’t rely on makeup to do the work for you.” – Gucci Westman, Revlon Artistic Director. No wiser words have been spoken.
The real summer glow actually starts with a strong skin foundation. This is something we have learned the hard way and after all the years of bad habits we have learned that you can’t cheat your way to great skin. Trust us we tried.
So that means summer skin prep is in! If you can prep your skin to be hydrated and clear, that summer glow will shine. Try these products as we make our way into the warmer months.
Murad Vitamin C Toner – This is a big favourite of ours. Like WOAW. Vitamin C is proven to even out your skin tone and make your skin all luminous. Pascale has her’s in the fridge which is like a nice cool spritz on a hot day as well – bonus!
Sunscreen – Pop on when you are out and about to save your skin from getting fried. Nothing dulls your skin more then burnt, lifeless skin. Ain’t nothing glossy about that. Our current favs are the Ki sunscreen SPSF 30 for Pascale and the Murad SPF 50 for Nami with her super sensitive asian skin is super sensitive in the NZ sun.
Moisturize – Your skin will need more moisture during the hotter month as the sun will dry you out. Nothing beats a good moisturiser. Go with something lighter for the day (Murad Essential-C also has a SPF 30) and a night creme to help recover your skin from excessive sun bathing. We also always wear eye creme, the Ki Eye Concentrate helps to fight the visible signs of ageing in the delicate eye area and is great for all skin types.
A Great Cleanser – Nami’s Pick – Ki Hydrating Cleanser & Pascale’s Pick – Ki Oil Control Cleanser
Facials – Regular facials. It’s a must. We are both on the Skin Health plan with Caci Clinic which has been great for our skin maintenance. Our beauty therapist Taci (yes, we share the same beauty therapist) always caters to what our skin needs at the time and we have bumped up our facials in prep for summer. If you haven’t been, they have free consultations at the moment so what’s your excuse?
Great skin takes time and a good routine so start now and hang in there babe. Just remember, it won’t happen over night, but it will happen. Get your skin into a routine. Like RN. But don’t worry babe, you’ll get there.
